Charlotte Tricia Hanson, astrologer, has found three different levels of where people tend to fall regarding their level of connection with their true selves, by differentiating three categories: The Mundane Level, The Tropical Level and the Draconic Level.

At the Mundane Level, people are living with their eyes shut. They do not have a consciousness of who they really are, what they really want and in which direction their actions are driving them. Many people in modern urban occidental societies fall in to this level. They have learnt the rules and have built a sense of themselves that poorly matches what their tropical natal chart shows about them. Usually they react to a tropical chart reading in two ways: They reject it as being "absurd" or they accept it, astounded to learn how lost they were in the past. It is not at all easy for people at this level to accept how lost and wrong about themselves and their lives they have been, and the tropical chart usually doesn't match some people's perceptions of themselves. It is not that Astrology is wrong, but instead that some are not aware.

At the Tropical Level, people are living with their eyes open. They are connected with themselves, they know who they are, and feel what they want. They are living in a healthy state of consciousness and are taking good strides towards their personal development. The Tropical Chart matches them. Their souls are in line with their purpose, and they know what to do accordingly. Today, more and more people are falling into this level, especially in Oriental societies, where people are culturally more connected with their emotional side, and also among the enlightened people of the occidental world.

At the Draconic Level, people live connected with their souls. At this top level people becomes an expression of their soul, the core of themselves, very far above the tropical and mundane levels. Only a few people are at this level and it doesn't really matter the place in the world where they live. To live accordingly with the Draconic Level is like a kind of inborn talent that the person has, but is not possessed by everyone. The Draconic Level is sometimes reached in the later years of life.

No one lives totally in one single level, or personal fullfilment would be virtually impossible. Everybody alternates features of themselves from being characterized on one or another of the three levels.

However, it is much more common to find people living at the Mundane Level with some under-developed features of the Tropical level, as well as people living at the Tropical level with some well-integrated features of the Draconic Chart Level. We should not forget that ultimately the Draconic Chart must to be assembled to the Tropical Chart in order to express its highest potential.

We, as astrologers are dealing with people on many different rungs of the ladder of human development. We all know that on any given day thousands of babies throughtout the world are born with basically similar energy patterns. Yet each one will utilize his or her allotment of cosmic patterns in a unique fashion.

The main job of the astrologer is to know where the subject of the horoscope stands on the path of evolution,  and  this  knowledge  can  come  about  only  by  cultivating  the God-given faculty of intuition. Hence, an astrological diagnosis will always be as much an art as a science.
